Welcome to the grade 1/2 C Home Page!

We are a class of twenty three grade one and two students and our teacher is Miss Clare Conlon. Room 3 in the junior school building is where you will find us, it's hard to miss our bright and colourful room with all of our great work on display.

Our class motto is, “Shares and cares and never fears!” This means that we share our ideas and opinions with one another; care for our schoolmates by looking out for them and we never worry about taking risks with our learning because we know our teacher and classmates will support us. Horton the Elephant is our class mascot. He is kind, listens to others and has a great sense of humour, just like us!

We are always busy in 1/2C. On any day you could see us doing many of the following things. Every day we work in our reading groups. Miss Conlon reads with one group while the other groups work independently or with a parent helper on different reading activities.

In Maths, we have lots of hands on learning and love to use our interactive whiteboard. Over the last few weeks we have been focussing on place value and learning about different types of numbers. Future topics we will be learning about include shapes, addition and subtraction, graphs and much more!

Once a week we participate in FMS (Fundamental Motor Skills), this is where we learn the skills to play different sports. Other learning areas we focus on are: play based learning, handwriting, computers, speaking and listening, spelling and writing. Miss Rawlinson and Mrs Mancev are special teachers who teach us Music, Art and Cultural Awareness.

This term our integrated focus is “The Five Senses.” This means we learn about the senses through our reading, writing and numeracy program. We sniffed some nice and not so nice smells when we learned about our sense of smell. Our eyes played tricks on us when we investigated optical illusions on the interactive whiteboard. Next we are going to discover our senses of hearing, touch and taste.
