Hello everyone, welcome to 5/6 H, 2009!!!

As a part of our start up program at the beginning of the year we all developed personal mottos to make 5/6H a fantastic class. We thoroughly enjoyed voting and negotiating on the motto which we feel reflects what we all want to strive to be every day.

Our favourite class motto about our important values and attitudes, which is proudly displayed in our classroom, is -

This helps us to remind each other that we are all CHAMPIONS and we all have something special to offer!!!

Wow! When you walk into our colourful classroom you will notice that our twenty seven talented students are happy, friendly, hard working, and always supportive of each other. We look forward to running weekly class meetings where we discuss important decisions to help make our classroom a better place. We use the Habits of Mind, which we are learning about, to help us strive to become better students and wonderful people.

We all enjoy artistic and sporting activities, constructions, using computers, and playing class games. At the beginning of the year we discovered how each of us learns best, and this helps Mrs Hemsley organise a variety of interesting activities for us throughout the year. We are often given the opportunity to choose from several activities, which we really take advantage of, because everyone is able to learn about topics in different, exciting, meaningful, and engaging ways.

Every week we participate in activities such as Music, Cultural Awareness, Art, Inter school Sport, reading, writing, speaking and listening, maths, integrated studies, digital portfolios, and library. Quite often we use our fantastic interactive whiteboard and computers to help us learn. During the year, we are given lots of opportunities to be leaders with responsibility in our classroom and across the school. We especially look forward to working with the preps as cross age tutors in their classroom.

Being positive role models really helps build our confidence!!
