Visual Arts Program

The Visual Arts program at Banyule PS covers a wide range of activities
across the whole school.
At various times children will be exploring art elements such as colour,
line, texture, shape, contrast, balance, perspective and movement while
developing a deeper knowledge of art areas such as: modelling (clay, plaster,
wire, plasticine, fimo etc), painting and drawing, paper skills (cutting tearing
curling, layering, quilling), construction (boxes, balsa wood, sculptures,
mobiles etc), collage and printing.

We have had lots of fun working on various whole school projects. Both entries
to our school are lined with 3 metre bollards which have been painted by the
kids with aboriginal inspired designs.
This project was funded by The Banyule
Council as a community development project. There are painted tiles lining the
art room and entry hall as well as hand-made terracotta tiles lining the new
path at the Miriam Rd entry to the school. Presently we are all contributing to
some fantastic murals that will be on display in the main foyer in the near
future.
We have a Kindy Art program twice a year. In term 2, 4-year old children are
invited to take part in a 3 week program where they get to be big school kids
for the morning. Parents can take a tour of the school with the principal while
the kids participate in fun activities in the art room. Beverages and snacks are
available for adults and kids who come along. In term 4 we offer 3-year kindy
art.
Take some time to browse through our 'Gallery' to see some of the fantastic work
our talented children have produced
