Welcome to Room 4!

In our classroom we have 8 friendly girls and 8 friendly boys.

Our classroom is a nice and friendly place. It looks pretty with all our work around the room.

We like it when it is a happy and quiet classroom. We enjoy reading books and listening to stories on the interactive white board. We like writing and playing different games on the computers.

We love playing in the Dress Up Corner and doing Play Based Learning. We like the big undercover shelter and going outside to play. Our teacher is called Miss Sue Kelly. She helps us all the time. She has a dog called Cooper and a cat called Puss. Cooper likes coming to school and loves to run around and play with Miss Kelly when she is on yard duty.

Every morning we run our own class meeting. We have a chairperson who says good morning and lets the class know what they are doing for the day. We have two observers who wear big funny glasses and they look for good behaviour.

Literacy

Numeracy

During Numeracy lessons, children are grouped according to their needs. They participate in a variety of hands on activities to learn and understand concepts being taught.

Play-Based Learning

In Room 4, Prep students love Play Based Learning.

They get to experience a variety of activities involving multi-sensory approaches.

Activities are planned to cater and support all learning needs and interests in the areas of Art, Sensory, Science, Maths, Technology, Fine Motor, Communication and Physical, Personal & Social Learning.

Our Play Based learning activities are based around the letter of the week and our theme for the term.

Peer Support

Year 5/6 buddies provide peer support socially and academically for our Preps.

The benefits to both groups of students are significant from learning about thinking and problem solving approaches, to just having some fun and building social skills.

Students also enjoy taking a small group of Preps for Literacy activities to provide guidance and support.

Special Days

Children had a great time coming to school in the PJs and having breakfast with all their friends.

Sport

The Perceptual Motor Program is an activities-based program designed to develop fine and gross motor skills and increase confidence in movement.

It is a diagnostic program aimed at giving the child experiences in seeing, hearing, touching, processing, making perceptual judgements and reacting through carefully sequenced movement activities.
