About Us

Banyule Primary School was established in 1962. In September 2012, we celebrated our 50th Birthday!

The school has an excellent reputation for a number of reasons. The Banyule school community is very positive and supportive. Parents play a major part in providing an optimum learning environment for our children. The staff are dedicated and spend a great deal of time planning curriculum, sourcing materials to enrich programs and assessing each child thoroughly so that every child works at an appropriate and challenging level.

We place a great emphasis on student welfare, ensuring all children feel happy and safe at school. The school values underpin all that we do and this forms the platform for expected behaviour.

Our grounds are spacious and incorporate two playing ovals, three sets of climbing equipment, a huge sand pit, basketball, netball and bat-tennis courts and quiet areas for sitting or playing.

All the classrooms have heating and cooling and interactive whiteboards. Students have access to laptops as needed.

We have a state-of-the-art kitchen/science room where children participate in cooking sessions and science activities with their class teachers and interested parents. There are eleven vegetable gardens and a small orchard.

Our library is well-stocked, modern and very appealing to the children.

We have a very large well-equipped art room with a kiln, materials and equipment to entice any budding artist. Our art teacher is extremely talented and this is reflected in the quality of the children’s work.

Our music room is also large and well-equipped. The music teacher is a professional musician who is dedicated to ensuring all children enjoy themselves as they participate in the performing arts program.
