Disability access to Banyule Primary School is via the staff carpark. Corner of Miriam St and Lionel St.
Banyule Primary School has an excellent reputation for a number of reasons. The Banyule school community is very positive and supportive. Parents play a major part in providing an optimum learning environment for our children. The staff are dedicated and spend a great deal of time planning curriculum, sourcing materials to enrich programs and assessing each child thoroughly so that every child works at an appropriate and challenging level.
We place a great emphasis on student welfare, ensuring all children feel happy and safe at school. The school values underpin all that we do and this forms the platform for expected behaviour.
Our grounds are spacious and incorporate a playing oval, three sets of climbing equipment, a huge sand pit, basketball, netball and bat-tennis courts and quiet areas for sitting or playing.
In 2019 we had a full-sized gymnasium built. Along with the basketball and netball rings, it comes with a fully-equpped kitchen and 2 classrooms. The gym has been a great success for the school and provides another undercover/indoor play pace. OSHClub operate out of the gym before and after school.
All the classrooms have heating and cooling and interactive whiteboards. Students have access to laptops as needed.
We have a state-of-the-art kitchen/science room where children participate in cooking sessions and science activities with their class teachers and interested parents. There are eleven vegetable gardens and a small orchard.
Our library is well-stocked, modern and very appealing to the children.
We have a very large well-equipped art room with a kiln, materials and equipment to entice any budding artist. Our art teacher is extremely talented and this is reflected in the quality of the children’s work.
Our music/performing arts room is also large and well-equipped. The performing arts teacher is a professional actor who is dedicated to ensuring all children enjoy themselves as they participate in the performing arts program.
Our sport/PE program is overseen by a dedicated sport teacher. All children work their way through a program consisting of PMP (perceptual motor program), FMS (fundamental motor skills) and a variety of sports.
Our chosen LOTE is Mandarin. We have two dedicated Mandarin teachers for all children whilst still maintaining our Monday night Mandarin language program for interested children.
Our school motto is: The Key to a Bright Future!
