INQUIRY LEARNING
At Banyule Primary, we are encouraging wonder and curiosity through Inquiry Learning units of work. Each area of the school develops and pursues key questions in relation to our integrated curriculum. Students build a greater understanding of the topic by analysing from a range of perspectives and posing effective higher order questions.
Students will pursue their interests in relation to the set topic, gaining skills in critical and creative thinking, collaborative learning and independent research. Students use a range of current digital technologies to demonstrate their understandings and findings of their investigation. Students are taught to use a variety of tools to support their thinking and develop their problem solving skills.
It is exciting to see which direction the students will take this opportunity, to choose their own focus and platform for presentation.

Grade 5/6 Science Club
Grade 5/6 students will be given a chance to participate in a Science Club on Tuesdays at lunch time.
This lunch time program will offer students an avenue to learn more about sciences and partake in fun lessons. These will involve experiments, discussions and informative viewing.
During the year, these interested students will have the opportunity to enter the STS (Science Talent Search) competition. This is an on-going science competition that challenges students to further develop their scientific understanding.
This year's focus is on 'Oceans" and how we can protect our waterways.
