At Banyule Primary School children learn Chinese (Mandarin) as the languages program. This curriculum program is aimed at cultivating an understanding of intercultural concepts and developing useful daily language skills for communication.
Our program involves Chinese cultural context into various themes that not only helps students explore Chinese history and traditional values, but also foster their language learning through recognition, comparation and reflection of differences among English, Chinese or even their own background language.
We cover a wide range of content from daily vocabulary, conversations, to cultural events. We encourage and engage students to speak and apply the language in their routines through songs, conversations and role plays. Digital Technologies are widely used in the classroom to facilitate independent learning.
